a good friend of mine once said you should send a love letter to yourself when you feel like sending a text to an ex. i repeat this advice to you today for it’s wise to heed, as lover Venus receives one of many drunk calls from Neptune today. He rattles on about the potential of their idyllic love, the soul merging that could be, the ethereal sex, the beauty of life to be pursued beyond the known. He tells her theres more to life than she’s already got, that she’s starved for an escape from the mundane. Venus really should hang up.. but the trail of words on the other line validates her anonymous beauty. how is she to know she’s still got it in quarantine without posting a thirst trap pic? how is she to know her worth without someone else implying it?
Neptune’s concepts are undeniably seductive, but he’s too busy chasing paradise lost to ever really help Venus grow. Once he sees her flaws or she finds her strength, his interest wanes like the dying moon. Neptune doesn’t mean to manipulate a situation, he’s just deeply programmed to seek nirvana. Venus is preparing to slam the brakes and switch directions for her upcoming retrograde beginning on May 13th. These mixed messages she’s receiving throw her for a loop. Is she happy? Should she text her ex? Perhaps that fuck boy? Maybe the one that got away? Should she just love the one she’s with?
All this is to say that it’s easy to feel swept in a tidal wave of fantasy today. Neptune’s intoxicated pleas will keep rolling in over the next few months, asking you if you’re any closer to your hearts values. He’ll be poking around to see if you’ll abandon reality for a glimmer of hope. Venus retrograde will be washing up lover’s skeletons up on the shore, helping you process gut feelings rather than information. Helping you learn what you need and who it is you are at your core. Helping you validate yourself, without someone else’s hand in the mix. Don’t get me wrong- there’s nothing wrong with a little harmless flirtation, or drifting off down memory lane of lovers gone by, but be certain you don’t delude yourself. When the sun sets, those sparkles disappear in the dark, and you’re left with nothing but Neptune’s dark ocean of discontent.
