While 2018 winds its way to a close, we bid adieu to a year full of revelatory retrogrades and in the wake greet the internal shifts that they’ve gifted us with. The preview of Uranus in Taurus illuminated to us the complacent earth we guard that desperately needs to be broken up for new undertakings to burst forth from that soil. Venus’ under worldly dance through Scorpio had some tough stories to tell, ex’s from hell and love forlorn. Mercury reeked utter havoc on our lives, for what purpose I’m still left dizzy trying to decode. Jupiter in Scorpio acquainted us with our dark side, showing us how to alchemize our wounds, turning them from lead into gold. Saturn, empowered in it’s yin sign of Capricorn, asked that we keep our nose to the grindstone if we ever wanna see results and that we show up every day and do it over again and again. 2018 felt like a primal wake up call to our truest natures, and that wakeup call at times felt straight up like a punch to the face. Though bruised and bloodied, we’re ready to see and accomplish more. Hell, we’ve survived this much.
The Sun in Capricorn leads us by the hand into the new year, guiding us with steady footing upon the rocky cliffs that loom ever upward. Our annual vows to ourselves renew, and the abundance of planets in Capricorn will ask you if you’re up to the task of really seeing them through. As per usual, Saturn will demand you show consistency and responsibility for yourself if you want to achieve. NYE will see Mars leave the oceanic dwellings of Pisces behind as he moves forward into Aries, his yang sing of rulership. This will certainly give NYE a Mars tinge, with the moon being in Scorpio for the night and Mars setting ablaze his torches at home in Aries. Be on the look out for emotions running high, as well as tempers and sex drives.
Jupiter’s plans to inhabit Sagittarius for the next year I find has been interestingly construed by many astrologers that everything’s magically gonna be better now. Yay, Jupiter is finally home, everything’s so positive and optimistic! The thing is, when a planet returns to a sign that it has rulership, even a benefic planet such as Jupiter, it doesn’t automatically make things better, it just gives Jupiter a strengthened position. Jupiter in Sagittarius is the warmest, brightest, boldest form Jupiter can inhabit. Jupiter gets louder, dreams bigger, shoots his arrow a little farther when residing in his masculine yang sign of Sagittarius. The house ruled by Sagittarius in your chart will certainly be getting lots of attention and a healthy boost this year. This is a positive shift in the sense that there’s not such a watery sense of dread and introspection as when Jup was in Scorpio, but be wary of a tendency to go too big, too bold, or too loud this year. At the risk of sounding pessimistically Saturnine, there is potential here for too much of a good thing and Jupiter in sag knows it!
